MISSION
The mission of the AmeriCorps Seniors West Virginia Association (ASWVA) is to make a positive impact on the well-being of all West Virginians by promoting volunteerism that draws from the life experiences of citizens 55 and over.
GOALS
- To facilitate independent living.
- To encourage and promote life-long learning.
- To deliver services that nurture emotional/social well-being.
- To improve public safety through volunteer service and education.
- To promote healthy lifestyles.
ASSOCIATION PURPOSE
- To provide through a state forum: focus, visibility and advocacy for AmeriCorps Seniors Volunteer Programs.
- To establish a network of state communications among AmeriCorps Seniors projects - as a link to national and regional AmeriCorps Seniors Associations.
- To provide a vehicle for state expression of majority opinion on behalf of AmeriCorps Seniors Programs and volunteers to the national AmeriCorps Agency, the commission on Aging, Congress and other appropriate governmental agencies, regional and national.
- To provide a vehicle to search out and apply for alternate sources of funding in support organizations.
